The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially rescheduled the NEET PG 2025 exam to August 3, 2025, and it will now be conducted in a single shift across the country. This decision has brought clarity for thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants eagerly waiting for updates.
Why the Exam Was Postponed
Initially, the NEET PG 2025 exam was scheduled for June 15, to be held in two different shifts. However, concerns were raised regarding fairness, with aspirants pointing out that multiple shifts could lead to variation in difficulty levels. These concerns led to a plea being filed in the Supreme Court.
Responding to these concerns, the Supreme Court directed NBEMS to conduct the exam in a single shift only to ensure equal opportunity and avoid any discrepancies in difficulty or evaluation standards.
NBEMS Seeks Additional Time
After the Supreme Courtโs order, NBEMS highlighted the massive logistical effort required to accommodate all candidates in one shift. Organizing the exam for such a large number of students across more than 1,000 centers in 250 cities posed a significant challenge.
To manage this, NBEMS requested additional time to coordinate with examination partners and finalize arrangements. The board proposed August 3, 2025, as the earliest feasible date for the single-shift exam.
Supreme Court Approves the New Date
The Supreme Court approved the NBEMS proposal, agreeing that logistical arrangements required careful execution. However, the Court emphasized that no further delay will be permitted and that this will be the final date for the NEET PG 2025 examination.
What Aspirants Should Do Now
This delay has given candidates extra time to prepare, revise and improve their exam strategies. Aspirants should stay updated by visiting NBEMS official portals regularly and begin preparing for the exam as per the new date.
With the exam now unified into a single session, the chances of discrepancies in marking or variation in paper difficulty have been minimized โ offering a fair chance to every candidate.
